We are a family farm that consists of three generations of brand new farmers. Yep, you read that right. We all left city life and suburbia to begin a new adventure on 43 acres in West Tennessee.
Here at Mabel's Meadow Farm we endeavor to return to former farming and ranching practices that allow for natural biodiversity. It's a return to a Charlotte’s Web kind of barnyard.
Our goal is for humans, plants and animals to share natural resources, each adding its own unique footprint to the whole endeavor. The end result is a family farm that is more resilient and self-sustaining, while providing a higher harvest yield.
We invite all those who desire to simplify their lives to share ideas and expertise. Help us build a network of like-minded pioneers.
Max and Fiona are our breeding pair of New Zealand rabbits known for beautiful pelts, excellent meat and friendly pets.
They are happily settling into their new custom made luxurious hutches, one for him and one for her.
We will give them some time to settle in. Sasha, our Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dog, is already on the scene keeping warch over her new charges.
The Great Pyrenees is a livestock guardian dog from the Pyrenees Mountain region of France. They are well known for being gentle and majestic and yet fiercely protective over their charge, whether it be sheep, goats, chickens, cattle or even children.
These faithful protectors will guard farm and family from a wide range of predators including coyote, wolves, bobcats, raccoons, foxes, and overhead predators such as hawks .
These gentle giants work best in pairs on large farms, however one may be sufficient to patrol a smaller area.
It has been said that one Great Pyrenees dog will give its life protecting its charge, but two or more will not be challenged by any predator, not a bear, mountain lion or even a pack of wolves.
Create bio-diverse, sustainable, holistic food systems that promote healthy living.

Mabel, our first Angus cow and the name sake of our farm with Abigail our next generation of farmer.
Our farm is home to over 40 chickens of several varieties, including the ever-surprising Easter Egger hens who lay eggs in varying shades of blue, green and pink!
Yes this is your typical garden variety! We grow sweet potatoes, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, assorted herbs, peppers - hot and sweet, and melons.
Our team of Great Pyrenees protect everything on our farm from the livestock to the people, keeping away the predators that are found roaming the rolling hills of Tennessee.
Zinnias, Roses, Queen Anne's Lace, Lilies, Black Eyed Susans, Daisys, Lilacs, Hydrangeas, Lavender and all kinds of wild flowers grow all over the farm and in cultivated flower beds adding beauty indoors and out.
Our felines keep the rodents away, which in turn keep the snakes away! And they have been raised with our chickens to not only co-exist but live in harmony.
